GniR RednoW. 1955. By Joseph Cornell.

(10/20/00)

This is a re-editing of Brakhage's The Wonder Ring. It is all (possibly almost all--I'm not sure) upside down and backwards. So we focus on the patterns of movement in the ride on the El. I didn't find it very interesting.

  1. This is not a re-edit of "The Wonder Ring". It IS "The Wonder Ring", played backwards, but otherwise identical. Cornell commissioned Brakhage to shoot and edit the film (and didn't like what Brakhage did much), so they "split" the film with each presenting it as they pleased. A film that concentrated purely on patterns of light and reflections as caught in real time was highly unusual, if not revolutionary, in 1955 America.
